The AirPods Pro have improved the audio of the calls and Apple has silenced it

AirPods Pro

This is curious news. It seems that the AirPods Pro They have inherited in some update of their firmware a new Bluetooth protocol that the AirPods 3 incorporate, which substantially improves the sound in voice calls.

So far everything is correct. The company always tries to improve its devices as much as possible by constantly updating its software. The strange thing is that it has not notified said improvement, and if the hardware of the AirPods Pro, older than the new AirPods 3 supported this new protocol, how come it has not been implemented before. Rare, rare…

When Apple introduced the third generation of AirPods, it explained that they incorporated a new Bluetooth protocol, the AAC-ELD. This audio codec offers “Full HD” voice quality on phone calls.

AAC-ELD, or Advanced Audio Codec-Enhanced Low Delay, is a variant of the AAC standard used by most streaming services. Applied to AirPods 3, it also offers a best audio quality and lower latency for oral communication.

Well, it seems that this codec has also been implemented in the AirPods Pro, in some of its latest updates of its firmware, and Apple has not notified it. That is what a developer who has made the discovery claims.

As published on his blog, the developer Marco Pfeiffer has discovered that AirPods Pro, which lacked support for the AAC-ELD Bluetooth audio codec, now have it implemented. This codec was first announced by Apple at the launch of the AirPods 3, when the AirPods Pro had already been on the market for two years.

Pfeiffer has not been able to verify whether the AirPods original and second generation ones have also been modified via firmware to be compatible with said new audio codec. The strange thing about this thing is that Apple introduces an improvement in a device and does not announce it.
