The digitization of its supply chain drives the expansion of Berria Bike

Berria Bike has just taken a step forward in its model of smart industry Thanks to the digitizing your supply chain. In this way, the Spanish company, specialized in the creation of custom bikes and high performance, foresees a growth in sales close to 60% in 2022 and is preparing to tackle a rapid international expansion, which has already made it reach 360 points of sale in 31 countries.

The development of this system seeks to offer the maximum transparency and traceability to all the official distributors of the brand, through the real-time connection of the order system with its own factory. Thanks to the implementation of this process, each store can access the company’s MSP (Master Production Scheduled), displaying both the available stock and the manufacturing forecasts for each bicycle model, which allows the final customer to be guaranteed its availability, possibilities customization and delivery time.

Empower dealers for better customer service

“Many distributors have to work with a lack of information about how and when they will be able to have the bicycles requested by their customers, to which is now added the uncertainty that the supply crisis is generating in the sector. Our idea is to empower stores so that they have quick access to useful information and can provide the best possible service to end customers”explains David Vitoria, CEO of Berria Bike. “By digitizing the supply chain, each store knows what it can sell without manufacturing incidents or exorbitant waiting times, avoiding situations such as a bicycle not being delivered due to the lack of a specific part that comes from an external manufacturer”, affirms the manager and former professional cyclist.

Reinforced supply chain to manufacture 10,000 bicycles per year

Berria Bike began the digitalization of its supply chain in 2017, adapting its relationship with distributors to the increasing demand for its high-performance bicycles. The resulting system has been definitively implemented this year, coinciding with the enlargement and facilities modernization of the firm in Villarrobledo (Albacete)from where more than 6,000 bicycles were manufactured in 2021. A figure that Berria Bike plans to increase to 10,000 units in 2022 and that would mean nearly 16 million euros in sales.

“We have grown close to 300% in the last two years and something like that is impossible without having clear production planning and easily accessible information for points of sale. One of the keys to our evolution in a complex economic context has been interpreting this situation with a supply chain according to a realistic plan focused on a fluid relationship with the client. This protects us against component delivery problems, while allowing stores to check the current status of the bicycles sold, even knowing where they are in the process (sanding, painting, assembly). It is a competitive advantage but, above all, a necessity to grow with guarantees”Victoria concludes.

Berria Bike closed its last financial year doubling its turnover, with sales of over 10 million euros. This growth was also reflected in the increase in its production capacity, which increased by 63%, going from 3,800 units manufactured in 2020 to 6,200 in 2021.
