The employer of flexible spaces rejects the Treasury plan

The Spanish association of flexible workspace operatorsProWorkSpaces has responded to the Ministry of Financeon the occasion of the 2022 Annual Tax and Customs Control Plan. It includes shared workspaces as a monitoring objective, to verify that they comply with their census obligations.

In said document, echoed yesterday by various media outlets, the coworking spaces with “nests of societies”, a qualification that the association flatly rejects.

Today it is a key piece in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and an alternative that helps reduce costs and make infrastructures more flexible for many companies and freelancers who need to optimize their budgets to the maximum. We are a sector of the future, with strong growth, which responds to the current needs of companies, with a large and growing presence throughout Europe and the world.

1,200 private management spaces

Today there are more than 1,200 privately managed spaces in our country and more than 800 public management and every day more than 350,000 people work in its facilities. Their activity goes far beyond providing a physical space and they facilitate “space as a service”: It also offers technological equipment, complementary services and a sense of belonging to a community that interacts and feeds back, always putting people at the center of the entire value proposition.

Coworking spaces and business centers in Spain constitute a professional, respectable sector that respectfully complies with the legal framework, as are the companies that are housed in them. The sector itself is the first interested in its spaces not being used to domicile ghost companies, which it strongly rejects, as ProWorkSpaces has stated in different meetings and agreements with the Tax Agency.

Regarding the Annual Tax and Customs Control Plan for 2022, the Association expresses its total predisposition, as it has always done, to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance in complying with current regulations.
