The Galaxy S23 Ultra victim of a new bug, the stabilizer does not work

While the vast majority of specialized media praise the qualities of the photo experience offered by the Galaxy S23 Ultra, some users visibly encounter problems on their devices, especially with optical stabilization.

With the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung has tried to offer the best Android photophone on the market. As we stated in our full test, the bet is almost paid off. If the automatic mode with the 12 MP sensor offers exceptional results with good sharpness and optimal management of contrasts and colors, we have however reported disappointing software processing, especially on the colors of the shots captured with the 200 MP lens.

These few failures in the photo part have been confirmed by DXOMARK specialists, who have assigned a score of 140 points to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. As a result, Samsung’s high-end smartphone only climbs to 10th place among the best photophones, far behind the Huawei Mate 50 Pro or the iPhone 14 Pro.

On the other hand, there is one point on which the vast majority of specialized media agree: the excellent optical stabilization of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Normally perfect in both photo and video mode, the optical stabilization is visibly upsetting for some unlucky users.

A first bug on the optical stabilization of the S23 Ultra reported

This is particularly the case of a user, who shared his misadventures with our colleagues on the site SamMobile. As he demonstrates in supporting videos, a bug disrupts the optical stabilization on its Galaxy S23 Ultra. This can be seen in particular on the preview in Photo mode, which has many jerks. In video mode, however, no problem to report.

According to him, resetting the camera settings fixes the problem, temporarily at least. Indeed, as soon as we close and open the photo app again, the problem resurfaces. According to the statements of the user, the smartphone did not suffer any physical damage (shock, fall or other). In fact and unless it is a specific problem on one of the sensors of the Galaxy S23 Ultra of the user, everything leads to believe that it is a software bug of the camera. (Diazepam)

This track seems the most plausible, especially since the user notices an unusual overheating of the device when the photo app is open. For the moment, Samsung has not yet officially reacted to the statements of this user. We will update this article as soon as we know more about it. As a reminder, it is still not recommended to install the One UI 5.1 update. Indeed, the recent problems of overconsumption of energy are still present.
