The Google Pixel 6a will be more powerful than the Pixel 6, according to a benchmark

A new affordable smartphone from Google will be introduced later this year, and it may well be more powerful than the manufacturer’s high-end models, if the scores obtained on a benchmark are to be believed.

Several months before its release, the Google Pixel 6a has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmark. This is not the first time that the smartphone has switched to the application. Indeed, a few weeks ago, Geekbench had already allowed us to confirm that the Pixel 6a will use a Tensor chip, the same as the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.

This time around, the benchmark spotted by AndroidHeadlines compares it directly to its big brother, the classic Pixel 6. As you can see below, theThe Pixel 6a leads the score by a short head over the Pixel 6 with a score of 1050 points on one core and 2833 points on multiple cores, compared to 1044 and 2758 for the Pixel 6. The benchmark therefore claims that the Pixel 6a is slightly more powerful than its predecessor, while nevertheless using the same Tensor chip. The difference in score can therefore be explained by a better SoC optimizationor by a different test environment.

The Pixel 6a arrives this summer in France

As we have seen in previous weeks, the Pixel 6a no longer holds much of a secret. We already know what the smartphone will look like, since its box was photographed months before the official announcement. The leaker OnLeaks had also created renderings which allowed to have a better preview of what the smartphone was going to look like.

As expected, it uses a design very similar to the Pixel 6, but with only 2 cameras on the back. These would be the same sensors as the older generations of Pixel smartphones, i.e. a 12 MP IMX363 main sensor as well as a 16 MP ultra wide-angle sensor.

Finally, we know that Google would have chosen to unveil its affordable smartphone during a event on July 28, according to information from Jon Prosser. The Pixel Watch could be talked about, but Google won’t finally launch it until the end of the year with the next generation of Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. They should also use a brand new generation of Tensor chip.
