The Mandalorian is easily Disney+’s most iconic series. Launch program of the platform, it was able to seduce the fans with two high-flying seasons. It is also the first time that the Star Wars license has been made into a live action series. Mando will obviously come back for a third season.
The bounty hunter still has a lot of adventures to live and we can’t wait to discover them. Release date, cast, storyhere is all the information known to date.
When will The Mandalorian Season 3 air?
Disney+ will air The Mandalorian season 3 as early as February 2023. The exact date is still unknown.
How many episodes will there be?
The first two seasons of The Mandalorian mattered eight episodes each. It would therefore not be risky to say that season 3 will have as many. At the moment, it is not yet known how many seasons in total the series will have, but a season 4 is already in production, and it could arrive as soon as 2024. It works in terms of arcs and therefore it can continue in the duration without too much worry. Jon Favreau, the showrunner, even indicated in an interview with Variety that it was not impossible that one of Mando’s adventures is done in the form of a movie in the future.
Who will be in the cast?
Pedro Pascal will obviously be back in the lead role. We can also expect to see Katee Sackhoff return in Bo-Katan as well as Giancarlo Esposito in the boots of the terrible Moff Gideon. Carl Weather, a regular on the series since the very first episode, should also be present.
One thing is certain, however: Gina Carano, the interpreter of Cara Dune, will not be there. The actress was ousted from the series after controversial positions on Twitter.
And Grogu in all this? Well… you have to watch The Book of Boba Fett to find out.
What will the story be?
For the moment, the story of this season 3 is very mysterious. However, the end of season 2, The Book of Boba Fett as well as the lore from Star Wars give us some clues as to what’s to come. Attention, we will spoiler. If you haven’t seen the Mandalorian or Boba Fett yet, we encourage you to go your way.
We can bet on a story revolving around the legacy of Mandalore, with why not an inevitable conflict between jDin and Bo-Katan. We can also expect to see the planet Mandalore, completely ravaged following the great purge, in future episodes. We already had a glimpse of it in The Book of Boba Fett. As a reminder, some arcs of The Clone Wars and Rebels are already taking place on Mandalore.
What other Star Wars series projects are in the works?
Season 3 of The Mandalorian isn’t the only Star Wars series project underway. In reality, it is only one show among others. Disney wants to bet fully on its license with many programs already announced. A brief overview of what awaits us:
Andor : Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, appeared in the movie Rogue One. A spy for the Rebels, he is ready to do anything to help his cause, even to cross the yellow line. For obvious reasons, this miniseries will be a prequel to the 2016 film. Airing sometime in 2022.
Ahsoka A character introduced in The Clone Wars, Anakin’s Padawan quickly became a fan favorite, so much so that she returned in Rebels. She first appeared in live-action in The Mandalorian Season 2 as Rosario Dawson. Ahsoka will have the right to her own series soon. We hope it will continue the story left hanging at the end of Rebels.
The Acolyte : no concrete information on this series, except that it will take place before Episode I and that it will be interested in the dark side.
lando : as its name suggests, Lando will feature the iconic character who appeared in The Empire Strikes Back. No info or details on its release.
We will obviously update this file according to announcements and information leaked here and there. So stay tuned!
