The Nintendo Switch 2 announcement is reportedly fast approaching, according to new reports from different sources, all of which reveal that the new console has already appeared only a few days ago.

It’s been several months now that the rumors around a new Switch 2 are intensifying. If some reports are more reliable than others, especially about the components used by the console, an unknown remains: the exact release date. Several sources point to a release in early 2024, and it may well be that a new leak has just corroborated this.

On X, Jez Corden, journalist at Windows Central, announces that he has heard rumors that Nintendo showed or discussed the new Switch behind closed doors with some members of the press and some developers at the Gamescom annual video game trade show, which was held a few days ago.

To support this information, Tom Henderson of the site Insider Gaming reports that he, too, heard similar rumors behind the scenes when talking to his sources. Nintendo would have been largely present at the event, in particular to allow the press to take control of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but that might not have been the company’s only focus.

Another major source, Necro Felipe, who runs Nintendo Universe, also corroborated this information. Necro Felipe, who is known for sharing often very reliable information, specifies that Nintendo would not have discussed the Switch 2 with the press, but simply with developers.

There were already multiple reports of development kits being sent to different studios, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Japanese giant show the final version to some developers so that they have a better idea of ​​the platform for which they are preparing their games.

Everything therefore leads us to believe that Nintendo already has a few copies of its Nintendo Switch 2, which by the way will probably be called something else. The company is expected to unveil its new console as early as the end of the year, for release early next year.
