Summer Game Fest, Ubisoft Forward, Xbox Game Showcase… Publishers have been unleashing heavy artillery when it comes to video game announcements lately. We were able to discover full of promising new titles, but also to have more info on those we already knew. Great things are coming!
In this file, we will take stock on the ten biggest games to watch. We are talking here about the titles already announced, those which will be released either in 2023 or in 2024. Baldur’s Gate 3

This one took a while to arrive. It took more than twenty years to see a new installment of the cult Baldur’s Gate license land on our PCs. This time, Belgian studio Larian (Divinity Original Sin) is in charge. If it uses the universe and the rules of Dungeons and Dragons, this third episode starts on new bases with a 3D engine and above all an unpublished story. In early access since 2020, Baldur 3 promises an adventure worthy of the greatest models of the genre. We look forward !
Starfield

Rarely has a game been so ambitious. Bethesda not only promises the moon with Starfield, but the entire galaxy. Thousands of planets to explore, battles on earth, in space, titanic cities, colorful characters, activities you don’t know what to do with… It would be simplistic to say that Starfield is a Skyrim in the world. space, but it still takes up its fundamental concept: to let go of the player in an immense universe where everything is allowed. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

It is undoubtedly the big excluded PS5 of this end of the year. Direct sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) and its extension Miles Morales (2020) this second part promises a lot. This time, our two heroes face new enemies: Kraven and Venom. If this sequel uses the formula of the first part, she expands the playing field by adding Brooklyn and Queens in addition to Manhattan. Even more, it will be possible to switch from one Spidey to another with a simple press of a button, like a GTA 5. A huge blockbuster which is bound to be a hit on PS5.
star wars outlaws

Self-proclaimed “first open-world Star Wars game” (forgetting Galaxies in passing), Outlaws is a single player adventure centered on the criminal underworld of the outer space universe. The player embodies Kay Vess, a rascal who tries to survive during the reign of the Empire. This is a third-person game that highlights infiltration, action phases, but also piloting sequences. The promise of the open world is significant, since it should be possible to jump from one planet to another without any loading time.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage

After three episodes focused on a gigantic world and on the light-RPG, the Assassin’s Creed license returns to its roots with an “old-fashioned” component. In Mirage, the player embodies Basim, an assassin operating in 9th century Baghdad. No more skill points, talent trees, level passages and overly large play areas, since we have something close to the first games, with a small but dense city where parkour is in the spotlight . A risky bet… but paying off?
Alan Wake 2

Released in 2010, the first Alan Wake turned the small world of video games upside down with its twisted story and incredible atmosphere. It took thirteen years to finally have the right to a sequel. Once again, Remedy wants to focus its game on storytelling. In addition to the writer still lost in his works, the player will embody Saga Anderson, an FBI agent in charge of investigating his disappearance. The focus will be on horror, but also on action, with fights that will always require you to “light up” enemies before taking them down.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

The Prince of Persia is making a comeback with The Lost Crown. This time, we have the right to a Metroidvania, and not to a 3D action adventure game… and it’s for the best! The title is thus similar to the original game of 1989 and brings a breath of fresh air to a Ubisoft catalog that focuses mainly on open world adventures. The Lost Crown could well be the surprise of the start of 2024 and revive a franchise that has been dormant for far too long.
Fable

More than ten years after the last part, the Fable license returns in a reboot in good and due form. A reboot on which Microsoft relies heavily, which entrusted the baby to Playground Games, already behind the excellent Forza Horizon. If we don’t have gameplay footage yet to see what it all looks like, the trailer shown during the Xbox Games Showcase allows us to see that the essence of the saga has been preserved.
Dragon’s Dogma 2

The first Dragon’s Dogma (2012) had not been a resounding commercial success, but it has built up a hard core of fans over the reissues. Capcom gives the saga a second chance with a second part that we hoped for more. We take the same system and we start again, but better! We still have an action RPG that puts the punch in the fight. We hope that this sequel will be worthy of the first part.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

A direct sequel to the 2020 remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth should take more liberties with the original game. We find Cloud and his gang where we left them, that is to say at the exit of Midgard. Gone is the sprawling city, since this time we will explore the world through levels that promise to be more open. Could the fate of certain characters change in this reinvention of the myth? We hope, we hope…

Simon’s Choice: Citizen Sleeper 2

After a first part which caused a sensation, Citizen Sleeper returns in a direct sequel. For now, no gameplay footage has been revealed, just an animated trailer. This does not detract from the expectation around the title.
Sam’s Pick: Persona 5 Tactica

Atlus’ flagship saga returns in a new installment! This is not a numbered episode, but of a spin-off that focuses on tactical combat. Regardless, the fans are over the moon. We find the so particular graphic paw of the saga in this title expected for November.
Kevin’s Pick: Hades 2

The first Hades was a real slap that propelled the Supergiant Games studio to the forefront. After such critical and commercial success, the developer has obviously started work on a sequel. This time, we will control Melinoë, the sister of the hero of the first opus. It will still be a very action-oriented rogue-lite.
