All the dragons of The House of the Dragon

At the time of writing this article, The House of the Dragon has presented or described a total of 10 dragons. All these beasts have belonged to a member of the Targaryen house or the Velaryon house, so we are going to list them so that you are clear about which Dragon belonged to whom and what deeds he left in history.

Keep in mind that some descriptions could contain spoilers of what happened in the series, so if you’re not up to date, you’d better leave reading for another time and finish watching the remaining chapters.

Balerion – Black Terror

Known as the Black Terror, this gigantic dragon was ridden by Aegon the Conqueror, and with it he was able to take control of the Seven Kingdoms. Viserys Targaryen was the last human to ride on his back before he died. It is said that he was so big that his shadow could cover an entire city when he flew over it.

Caraxes – The Blood Amphibiter

It is one of the most feared dragons, since it has an extremely long neck that gives it the appearance of a serpent with wings (hence the name Amphipterus). It is Daemon Targaryen’s beast.

Dreamfyre (Dreamfire)

It is Healena Targaryen’s current dragon, but she rarely flies it. He has not been seen in the series, but he is a dragon that remains alive.

Meleys – The Red Queen

It is the personal dragon of Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. He is red with copper highlights, traits that give him his peculiar name.

Moondancer

He is a young and agile little dragon who closed his bond with Baela Targaryen at his birth.

Seamoke (Mist)

Seasmoke

Its pale gray color makes it a very elegant dragon. He is young and very agile, and is ridden by Laenor Velaryon.

Sunfire (Fuegosol) – The golden one

It is the dragon of Viserys Targaryen’s eldest son, Aegon Targaryen. He has not been seen in the series yet, but we are sure that he will appear.

One of the first dragons that could be seen in the series. He is the dragon of Rhaenyra Targaryen, and his name is that of a Valyrian goddess. He is a young dragon who is not as intimidated as others.

Vermax

Vermax

The youngest dragon that has been seen in the series. He belongs to Jace Velaryon, and is characterized as being olive green with orange membranes.

Vhagar – Queen of all dragons

One of the great dragons. He has an enormous size, so much so that he is the largest in the entire kingdom (twice as large as Caraxes), and his name is that of a Valyrian God. He was Visenya Targaryen’s dragon during the conquest of Westeros, and was ultimately ridden by Laena Velaryon.
