Thunes and Alipay+ will connect European merchants with Asian consumers

The cross-border payments company, Thunes, has announced an agreement with Alipay+, to develop a suite of cross-border payment and marketing solutions operated by Ant Group. Thanks to this collaboration, current Thunes customers and dealers in Europe will be able to accept payments from the most popular mobile wallets in Asia: Alipay in China, Touch’n Go and Boost in Malaysia, GCash in the Philippines, KakaoPay in South Korea or Rabbit LINE Pay and TrueMoney in Thailand.

Merchants who work with them will be able to Serve customers from Asian markets online and accept mobile wallet payments directly at their checkouts. In addition, they will also be able to offer Asian tourists in Europe the possibility of paying with their respective mobile wallets in stores, through a specific mobile application for points of sale that supports payments with QR codes.

This agreement will expand the geographic coverage of local payment methods available through Thunes: The company already offers a wide range of Alternative Payment Methods (APMs) popular with customers in Europe, Latin America, Africa and now Asia.

«Thunes’ agreement with Alipay+ creates a truly global shopping experience for shoppers and represents another important step in our mission to make payments borderless and inclusive. Mobile wallets are becoming the primary payment method among Asian consumers, and with international tourism showing a steady recovery, we expect to see significant demand for this solution from our 100,000 merchants.” said Christophe BourbierCEO of Thunes.

The agreement between Thunes and Alipay+ allows MyCompañero to access new markets in Asia with their preferred payment methods.
