Troubleshooting Error Code 4C on Samsung Washers

Samsung washers display Error Code 4C when there is a problem with the incoming water supply. A low water pressure, clogged filters, or a blocked or kinked hose can cause it. Regular maintenance and troubleshooting can prevent this error from occurring.

Examining the water hoses for kinks and obstructions is the first step in addressing this problem. Also, verify that the water valves are fully open.

Water inlet valve

The water inlet valve is the connection point between the water supply hoses and the Samsung washer. A clogged or kinked hose that isn’t correctly positioned will prevent the inlet valve from opening, and Error code 4c will appear. First, shut off the power to your washer (either by unplugging it if possible or turning off the circuit breaker that controls it at your home’s electrical panel).

Then, remove the back or front of the washer as directed in the user manual to gain access to the inlet valve and water hoses. Check the water hoses for signs of physical damage, and inspect the inlet valve itself for a clogged filter or a faulty solenoid. Use a multimeter set to the ohm X1 setting to test the solenoids; if they fail to read continuity, the valve must be replaced. After installing the new one, reattach the hoses and secure them with the mounting screws.

Water supply hoses

The water supply hoses connect the washer to the water inlet valve and faucets. They can become blocked by debris or clogged, which triggers the 4C error code. To fix this problem, turn off the washer and remove the hoses to clean them. Then, reattach the hoses to the valves and faucets.

Ensure the hoses are correctly connected and do not have kinks or bends that may block the water flow. Also, inspect the hoses for signs of physical damage and replace them if necessary.

Another way to prevent this error code is to regularly clean the water inlet valve filter and follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines. This will ensure a smooth washing experience. You can also purchase a collapsible hose to reduce space requirements in your washroom. It features a waterproof mesh storage bag and can be easily re-coiled. It is available in various lengths and diameters to meet your specific needs.

Water pressure regulator

A water pressure regulator is a device that reduces the amount of water pressure allowed to enter your home’s pipes. It contains an internal diaphragm that narrows or widens depending on the pressure in the pipes. The pressure can be adjusted with a screw near the top of the valve.

This device is positioned right after the primary shut-off valve where the water line enters your home or facility. This lets you shut off the water supply and fix it without navigating the piping throughout your building.

If you have a water pressure regulator, it is essential to test it for issues regularly. High water pressure can strain your plumbing system and cause leaky faucets, dripping toilets, or knocking sounds from your pipes (called “water hammer”). If you notice any of these problems, it may be time to replace the water pressure regulator. If you do, make sure to consult with a plumber for professional installation.

Detergent drawer

The detergent drawer is where you add the liquid detergent (HE detergent, oxygen bleach, or color-safe bleach) and fabric softener to your wash cycle. You have to pour a measured amount of detergent into this compartment depending on the load size as per the instructions on packaging your detergent and softener.

The biggest of the three dispenser compartments is marked with the symbol II, where you put the washing powder. The second is where you pour your fabric softener, and the third and smallest one is marked with a flower symbol.

Sometimes, this error code 4C may get triggered due to a clogged mesh filter at the part of the water supply hose connecting to your washer. It is designed to catch any dirt or debris from the incoming water and prevent it from getting inside your machine, but over time, it can become full of particles and stop working correctly.
