Tsurune has a release period (and new projects on the way)

Tsurune: Kazemai Kōkō Kyūdō-bu, the anime feature film based on the series of novels written by Kotoko Ayano, finally has a release period.

The official Twitter account of the project has indeed revealed that the film directed by Takuya Yamamura at the Kyoto studios, Animation will debut in Japanese cinemas during the summer of 2002, while no new information has arrived regarding the distribution of the film outside Japan.

Not just anime projects for Tsurune

In addition, the social post also anticipated that new projects are expected to arrive for the franchise that will not necessarily be anime, news that probably opens up to a possible live action production. Recall that the franchise has already given rise to an anime series (prequel to the film) premiered in Japan on the channel NHK-General in October 2018.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime which was streamed on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE (with an English dub) while airing in Japan. Sentai herself released the anime on home video in January 2020, an edition that also included an OAV and an episode (the 14th) never aired on TV.

Tsurune plot and trailer

The story follows the adventures of Minato Narumiya, a young student in his first year at the local Kazemai high school.

Mr. Tommy, adviser to the Japanese Archery Club, is eager to recruit Minato, along with his childhood friends Seiya Takehaya and Ryohei Yamanouchi. Behind the enthusiastic push of Ryohei, the reluctant Minato (who had already tried his hand at this discipline during middle school) is convinced to attend the club where he also meets Kaito Onogi and Nanao Kisaragi.

Identifying in Minato a rare talent for this discipline, Mr. Tommy asks the boy to demonstrate all his skills again, even if the boy is unable to become passionate again and emerge in kyūdō, traditional Japanese archery.

However, slowly, this martial art begins to unite Minato, Seiya, Ryohei, Nanao and Kaito as they grow and live their beautiful, but “bitter” youth.
