WhatsApp announces the new features that its users will be able to enjoy during the year 2023. The message of Meta also recaps the notable additions of the year 2022.
The year 2022 was extremely rich in new features for WhatsApp, but the company has every intention of continuing to improve its offer. It is rumored, for example, that the application will imitate SnapChat and allow you to send messages that fade after reading. What is certain, however, is that the iOS version of Meta’s messaging application will integrate the PiP mode in videoconference sessions from next year.

With the end of the year approaching, WhatsApp took the opportunity to recap the improvements made to the platform in 2022. WhatsApp now offers the possibility for 32 people to participate in a videoconference simultaneously. A long press on the avatar of a participant in this conference will allow you to mute to enlarge his video, then mute his audio or send him a private message, without interrupting the videoconference.
Picture in Picture has been around for years on Android, it’s finally coming to iOS
Various functional improvements will soon be made to the service. Until now, when several participants in a videoconference do not activate their video, it is difficult to know who is talking, we have to rely on the context, and on our ears. Very soon, a color waveform will appear instead of their video when they speak. Likewise, a notification banner will appear when a new interlocutor enters the conversation.

In addition, WhatsApp is also testing the possibility of implementing a Picture in Picture mode in the iOS version of the messaging system. If this feature really does nothing new for Android users, it was strangely absent on iPhone. This “picture in picture” mode allows you to shrink the size of the video, so that the application does not occupy all the space on the screen. In other words, it will be possible to do other things with your mobile device without it being seen during your video calls.
