Windows 11: the major update 22H2 would be deployed from September

Microsoft released Windows 11 last year, and since then the company has been working on the first major update. Multiple reports now indicate that this update could arrive in September.

Windows 11’s first major update, known as 22H2, is expected to arrive later this year, but Microsoft has yet to reveal an official release date. However, reports from The Verge and Windows Central now indicate that the first major revision of the company’s latest operating system could be available to systems around the world next month.

Indeed, both media report that Windows 11 22H2 will start rolling out on September 20, based on unnamed sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans. This Tuesday, Windows 11 owners can expect to see the update start appearing for download via Windows Update, but as usual, it just might be. not everyone will have access to it at the same time since the deployment will be progressive.

What will change with Windows 11 22H2?

Microsoft had been testing many new features with its Insiders for several months now. Windows 11 22H2 will include a few new security features (and new defaults for existing features), a redesigned Task Manager, new touchscreen gestures, and new window management features, as well as tweaks for the Start menu and the taskbar, among other things.

Other new features you should be excited about while waiting for the 22H2 update include the accessibility feature Voice access and live captionsthe “Spotlight” wallpaper, the “Suggested actions” function when you copy numbers or dates, and the new instant layout bar.

The flagship feature of this update will be the addition of tabs in File Explorer. These allow to multiply pages without opening new ones, handy for users who were tired of juggling multiple windows. File Explorer will also benefit from a new opening page named “home”on which we can find quick access to folders and other recently consulted documents, a new option for managing favorites and quick access to files stored on OneDrive.
