Xiaomi 13 Lite, debut of Dynamic Island on Android?

One of the most characteristic aspects of the iPhone 14 Pro is Dynamic Island, Apple’s “solution” to end the so characteristic notch that has accompanied the Cupertino smartphone since generation X, at which time the home button disappeared, the screen began to occupy practically the entire front and Face ID replaced to Touch ID. We have already spoken on occasion about how paradoxical that moment was, since some solutions appeared in the Apple App Store to try to “disguise” the presence of the notch on the screen and, at the same time, we could see how apps appeared on Google Play that they created a false notches in terminals with Android.

In the current generation we only find Dynamic Island in the Pro and Pro Max models, but we hope that in the iPhone 15 it will be extended to the rest of the models, marking the definitive end of the notch. And at the same time, as was the case with the jump from the home button to the notch, we have also been able to see apps on Google Play for Android that allow us to emulate the presence of Dynamic Island on non-Apple smartphones.

Now, it is one thing to “draw” a dynamic island on the screen, and quite another is the real leap from Dynamic Island to the world of Android, something that at first we did not expect, but that seems to be close to materializing. And it really makes a lot of sense, since the perforations on the screen to place the front camera are more than common in this ecosystem, so it aims to integrate in a fairly organic way into the design of smartphones from many manufacturers.

So, Xiaomi 13 Lite aims to be the first Android smartphone with Dynamic Island. The origin of said information is a video Published by the leaker Sudhanshu Ambhore in which an unboxing of the still unpublished terminal and its implementation is shown. In this video, only 15 seconds long, we can see the device’s screen several times, with the dynamic island located in the upper center of the screen, in the space that is normally occupied by the perforation of the front camera.

Let’s remember that the Xiaomi 13 were presented at the end of last year and that none of the models seen then used this design element, until now exclusive to Apple. So that, we will have to wait until the celebration of the Mobile World Congress 2023, event in which the Xiaomi 13 Lite will be presented according to multiple rumors. If so, it is possible that more manufacturers will be encouraged to explore this design format, especially if the Xiaomi terminal is well received by users.
