The Steam Deck finally has a launch date. Valve has announced that the first consoles will be available on February 25, but you will need to have received an invitation to be able to order a copy.
After postponing the console, since it was originally slated for release in late 2021, Valve finally confirmed that the first round of shipping should begin on February 25. for the first customers having reserved a Steam Deck. Indeed, in a blog post, Valve indicates that these will begin to receive invitations shortly after 7 p.m. » February 25.
Once the invitation has been received, you will be able to order the copy you have reserved. Your deposit of €4 will of course be deducted from the final price of the Steam Deck. It is also stated that customers will have three days to make their purchase, after which their reservations for the Steam Deck will be passed to the next person in the queue.
A first wave of deliveries in February, and after?
In its blog post, Valve indicates that those who did not receive the first wave of emails may have better luck in the following weeks. Indeed, Valve promises to send out new emails every week, without however indicating how many customers will be selected.
For the moment, it is therefore difficult to know whether or not the manufacturer will be able to meet demand, and whether all customers who have pre-ordered the console will be able to receive it at the start of the year.
