BIG Festival 2022 has just opened registration for game developers to participate in contests during the event.
The meeting will feature three open calls for studios and independent developers with more than R$50,000 in prizes and the possibility of supporting game development.
The BIG Festival is a festival focused on games, creation, business and networking and will take place between the 6th and 10th of July, in a hybrid way – with the in-person location still to be confirmed by the organization.
The deadline for registration of contests and the date vary according to the chosen call.
Game Jam Magalu
One of the calls is made in partnership with Magalu. Called Game Jam Magalu, the competition invites Brazilian developers to participate in a 48-hour online Game Jam, which will take place between June 24th and 26th.
The challenge encompasses two categories: studios and independent developers. In both, you can develop any type of game that is within the theme announced at the beginning of the competition.
The games will be evaluated by a jury with members nominated by Magalu and BIG Festival, following the terms of the call and the event’s regulation.
Applications are open until June 17 at 11:59 pm on BIG Festival website. In each of the categories, there will be prizes for first and second place in the amount of R$ 12,500 and R$ 5,000, respectively.
Blockchain Games
Another call is made in partnership with Ripio, a bitcoin wallet and other cryptocurrencies. For this selection of game projects, the titles must have Blockchain integration.
Game project developers who:
- They have tokenization of assets with Blockchain;
- They have innovative mechanics using Blockchain;
- Whose total development cost is a maximum of R$ 500 thousand;
- Whose total development period is a maximum of 10 months.
The selection finalists will present themselves to a jury during the BIG Festival and the winning project will receive BRL 20,000 and Ripio’s support for Blockchain integration and/or tokenization. Applications for this call are open until June 6th.
Nordic Game Discovery Contest
Finally, in partnership with Nordic, BIG Festival will host the Nordic Game Discovery Contest. In its 6th edition, the competition takes place live, in an online battle based on rounds for points.
In it, participants will have the opportunity to show their projects to a jury in different rounds, each phase means a score for the projects.
Application deadline is June 6th and all projects submitted by the deadline will be evaluated, as long as they meet all the required requirements. Viewing details and requirements for sending games and registration are available on the BIG Festival website.
