Since the announcement of the Cybertruck in 2019, Tesla’s future pickup has been divisive. It must be said that his design straight out of a science fiction movie is enough to raise an eyebrow. It’s the kind of aesthetic choice that polarizes, you either love it or you hate it. The exterior appearance is not everything fortunately, and perhaps some will ignore it to concentrate on what the electric vehicle has in its belly.

On this, almost 4 years after being revealed, we still don’t know much. The Cybertruck will have a screen on the back and, as an option, an impossible-to-scratch coating. For the rest, we will have to wait for an official presentation. Obviously, the absence of a complete technical sheet does not prevent customers from positioning themselves. According to a participatory counting, Tesla Cybertruck pre-orders exceed 2 millionall models combined.

Tesla’s Cybertruck would record 2 million pre-orders

The figure seems enormous, but we need to put it into perspective. Already, the count may very well contain errors, to the extent that it is the people who pre-order the Cybertruck who update it. Then, it is not a commitment to purchase. To reserve your pickup, Tesla only requires a $100 deposit which will be refunded if you withdraw. So there is very little risk in doing so, which surely inflates the numbers.

Finally, it must be remembered that all these reservations are made on the supposed prices of the Cybertruck. They were announced in 2019 and since then, the global economic situation has evolved enormously. Official prices are very likely to be higher, which will push customers to withdraw. Let us note, however, that the table corrects the prices to get closer to reality. Thus, the standard model is indicated at $49,900 instead of the expected $39,999. Currently, pre-orders represent adjusted revenue of $152 billion for Tesla. At the time of publishing this article, it is Twin-engine Cybertruck who is most anticipated with 44.1% of reservations.
