Apple could launch a cheap MacBook Pro with SoC M2

The apple company should present this year a renewal of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, a model that has been playing an important role in the Apple catalog, since this ultralight laptop has remained the the cheapest “Pro” option that the Cupertino giant has been offering, at least so far.

This version of the MacBook Pro is also the most compact, and the lighter although its 13-inch format It falls within the minimum acceptable limits to work comfortably, which means that it is not an ideal screen size if we are going to spend many hours in front of the computer, if we are going to use several applications open at the same time. In any case, in terms of performance it is a powerful and efficient unit, thanks to its Apple M1 SoC.

According to new information, Apple could present this year, along with the new MacBook Air, the new version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. All these computers will come equipped with the Apple M2 SoC, a new generation chip that should be made in a more advanced node, and that it will be based on a new architecture.

We do not yet know its exact specifications at the CPU and GPU level, but given that it will be used in computers where mobility prevails over raw performance, I think it is most likely that it will mean a modest evolution over the Apple M1 SoC.

To keep the price of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro as low as possible, Apple will do without the Touch Bar, and also the ProMotion screen. We don’t have a release date yet, and we don’t know the price yet, but the 13-inch MacBook Pro based on the M1 SoC costs 1,449 euros on Apple’s official website, so we can imagine that the new model will cost the same, or maybe a little less.
