In another article we saw that it can be installed on our iPhone and that it serves as a gateway to certain organizations, although documents cannot yet be signed, that is, we can consult and obtain, but not sign to request or provide documentation.
The DNI, the key document

Perhaps the pattern or the wait has to do with the digitization at a European level that is intended to be carried out. Because when it comes to digitization, we are not exactly the first. There are fully digitized European countries where their citizens carry out their procedures and identify themselves from any device and there are even countries such as Estonia or Switzerland that even allow voting electronically.
France, the United Kingdom, Italy and the Netherlands have at least once tried it, but in Spain that is still science fiction.

Apple, with its methodical philosophy, has always tried to unify our documents in a single app. Apple Wallet was born with the intention that our credit cards and our movie reservations, hotels, plane tickets, etc., would be in the same place through Passbook, accessible at all times.
Now also try with hotel keys, house keys, car keys, Apple Wallet will transfer everything we carry in our pockets to the mobile.

So it wouldn’t hurt to Apple will rely, in some way, on third-party apps that will do the “dirty work” with each administration of each country and that could provide this service. Read the data and use it to verify our identity with all the guarantees and security required and then carry a digital copy of our ID in Apple Wallet.

This application from the Spanish company Secureware is available for download in the App Store, so its purpose is validated and it complies with the strict security standards that Apple requires for its applications.
There is still a fundamental step or procedure left, which is to be validated by the Spanish Administration so that it is valid to carry the DNI on a mobile device and operate with it as if it were a physical one.
But once that stumbling block can be cleared, we could dream of Apple Wallet and DNI Wallet being compatible with each other or depending on each other for certain functions.
Or that Apple ends up buying the app that is the standard in each country or is recognized by the administration on duty if it wants to continue in its efforts to make Wallet the Digital Wallet that we all think of.
Hence, Could Apple Wallet and DNI Wallet be compatible with each other? yes, no and it depends.
Towards unification, but someday
The users, what we want, and I include myself, is A place where you can carry “everything” . DNI, Passport, Driving License, Family Book, Digital Certificate, Bank Cards, Keys (house, car), Other services (metro, bus, loyalty cards, reservations), etc. Even the extinct COVID certificate.
A portfolio where you can unify them all and where you can see everything. But that, today seems impossible, because everyone wants to be the standard to follow and some apps may unify and unite, but they do it by sectors, interested in it.
And in terms of official documents, digitization, supports and user requirements move at a different speed than the administrations of different countries.
Each organization wants to implement its standard app with its specifications, when try to unify all the efforts and the entire budget in a single app for the citizenand that this, in some way, is based on the OS of the device so that the digital wallet carries the more information and services, the better.

Technology, which must be at the service of the human being, is already more than ready and prepared to give us what we want, but in this case it is the human being, the governments and the administrations, they are the ones that are not prepared to leave the physical for digital.
