Artificial Intelligence is now in vogue, but did you know that it dates back to 1956?

Today we are going to see who its inventor was, what it was about and its advances to this day, since we will have to go back to 1956, much earlier than you imagined, right?

First Artificial Intelligence

First of all we have to know what we mean by AI. This is called the ability of a machine to mimic human intelligence to perform specific tasks. Through algorithms and complex mathematical models, machines learn from data and experiences to make decisions. The longer you are learning from us, the better you will replicate what we are looking for.

The multiple types of intelligence that have been programmed throughout history have been used for all kinds of subjects, from medicine to development to leisure (as many of us are using them lately).

We have to go back to 1956 to see the first of them. Was John McCarthy in the dartmount conference who first said the term Artificial Intelligence as well as the idea that they could come to think for themselves. Something that of those seemed very crazy, but that today we have to agree with him.

It was not he alone who gave this conference, he was accompanied by Marvin Minsky, Nat Rochester and Claude Shannon. All of them were the ones who were working in this field and the considered fathers of AI.

These developed the theoretical logic, which was considered as the first artificial intelligence program and used to solve heuristic search problems.

Marvin Minsky defined all of this like this:

«Today, machines solve problems according to the principles that we have established in them. Soon we may learn to put them to work on specific problems to improve their problem solving skills. Once a certain threshold is crossed, this would lead us into an acceleration spiral and it would be difficult to perfect a reliable regulator to slow it down.”

They also commented on how far she could go, being able to be a chess champion and that a person could never win it or even perform all the tasks of a human being.

Summarizing everything we can see how the ideas of this group were not misguided, to this day a robot has not stopped us from working but the aid and improvements in this field are increasingly surprising.

What awaits us in the future is a mystery, we do not know the potential that an AI can achieve, but if a group of people predicted it more than 60 years ago, when they did not even contemplate what a mobile phone could be, it means that the capabilities of a well programmed computer are endless.

We will be aware of what ChatGPT will become as well as the other intelligence of the moment and see what they can surprise us with.
