While waiting for some new information on Bright 2, we can continue to enjoy the promotional videos of Bright: Samurai Soul, the spin-off anime movies set in the same universe as the fantasy-detective film starring Will Smith.
The Netflix anime has in fact shown itself with a new clip that not only introduces us to the voice cast, but also shows how the strong action component of this spin-off will open even more the doors of the magical world where humans, orcs, elves and other magical beings live together (or at least try).
Bright: Samurai Soul, in fact, re-imagines this fantasy universe in a Japanese key, with an aesthetic deeply linked to the traditions of the Rising Sun.

Bright: Samurai Soul will arrive on Netflix’s streaming catalog on Tuesday, October 12th.
The film was directed by Kyōhei Ishiguro (Occultic; Nine, Children of the Whales) while Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Prison School, Cowboy Bebop, Kenshin Samurai Wanderer) took care of the script.
The unique animation style used to make the anime is meant to combine “The art of Japanese printing on wooden blocks with 3DCG technology”. The voice cast of the original film will feature the voices of Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings) as Izou, Fred Mancuso as the Orc Raiden e Yuzu Harada as Sonya.
Bright Plot: Samurai Soul
In the period between the fall of the Shogunate and the rise of the Meiji era, a powerful bright light emitted by a magic wand ends the long period of the Shogunate to prevent further bloodshed as Japan begins to embrace a new era. In the midst of this change, a one-eyed wandering ronin named Izou who has lost all reason to live, and Raiden, an ogre who hates murder and hopes to leave a life of crime behind, simultaneously but separately encounter a young woman. elf named Sonya.
Together they embark on a journey along the Tokaido Road so that Sonya can carry the wand she keeps safe north in the land of the elves.
However, the three will be hindered by a mysterious organization called “Inferni” which aims to take possession of the wand to revive the Dark Lord and extend its dominion over all creation. Inferni will also use its influence on the fledgling Meiji government in an attempt to steal Izou, Raiden and Sonya’s wand.
En route from Kyoto to Yokohama, Izou and Raiden begin their journey as caretakers and protectors of Sonya and the wand.
