Cisco Security Cloud: a solution to unify them all

Protect the public cloud, data center and edge. And do it especially when the company is in a multicloud environment. This is what Cisco proposes to us with its new “Cisco Security Cloud”, a new platform that completes the vision of a manufacturer, which in recent years has gone from positioning itself as an outstanding leader in the development of network infrastructure, to monopolizing more and more prominence in the world of cybersecurity.

The new platform is integrated into the cloud, it is offered to companies in a modality as a service, and maintains its promise of being an open infrastructure (400 third-party integrations through its open APIs), so that any other manufacturer of cybersecurity solutions can integrate into it and offer their telemetry data. In fact, it may be the case that there are companies that, without having any other Cisco security product, can still access a unified vision of their cybersecurity policies.

This integration is something that Ángel Ortiz, director of cybersecurity at Cisco Spain, has especially highlighted in the presentation of the new platform, emphasizing the need to simplify the defensive posture of companies in which, sometimes, up to 50 different solutions can coexist. .

If we add to this the proliferation of hybrid work environments, the exponential growth of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and an increasingly sophisticated cyber threat landscape, protecting the integrity of IT ecosystems means evolving. towards a higher level of resilience. And that is precisely what we offer with Cisco Security Cloud,” she explained.

The new platform has remained in development over the last few years and incorporates both the solutions that have been developed internally at Cisco, as well as those from its latest acquisitions, with a special role for Splunk, for which the company has spent almost 28 billion euros this year.

Among the available solutions are: Cisco Secure Access (zero trust identification and access solution), Cisco XDR either Cisco Multicloud Defensean approach that brings the traditional firewall concept to distributed environments in different clouds.

As it could hardly be otherwise, AI also plays a leading role here and in that sense, Cisco Security Cloud has a wizard that allows organizations to describe granular security policies and evaluate the best way to implement them in their infrastructure and another to contextualize the attacks and their impact.
