Data4 will build a data center campus in the Community of Madrid

The data center operator Data4 has announced the construction of a new data center campus in the Community of Madrid, in which it will invest 530 million euros. Specifically, in the town of San Agustin de Guadalix. This new construction forms part of its investment strategy in Spain, to which it will allocate 850 million euros until 2030.

After its construction, the new Data4 campus in San Agustín de Guadalix will join the company’s facilities in Alcobendas, which employs more than 150 professionals directly or indirectly. This means that, in addition, there are about 2,000 jobs related to the operation of the data center.

The new campus will generate more than 400 additional jobs, and will have more than 16,000 square meters of IT space and 80 MW of total power. In its four buildings there will be 12 MW of IT power. It will have the most cutting-edge measures in sustainability, ranging from maximum energy efficiency to optimization of water use.

Apart from this, priority will be given to energy efficiency and the responsible use of materials and natural assets in the construction process. For this reason, recycled materials will be used, the asphalt area will be reduced and recycling or electric recharging points will be installed, among other measures.

Based on the estimates of the impact on the GDP of the data centers, it is estimated that the activity of Data4 in Alcobendas has an impact of 1,200 million euros on that of the Community of Madrid. In addition, with regard to the data center sector, it is expected that by 2025 joint investment in this sector will exceed 6,000 million euros in the community, which will add 8,282 million euros to Madrid’s GDP, as well as the creation of 2,500 jobs.

So far, Data4 has built, planned and commissioned 31 data centers in Europe. In addition to Spain, the company is present in several countries, including France, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland and, soon, Germany. With its latest investment, Data4 is committed to Spain as a digital hub for southern Europe.
