The next-generation iMac could arrive by the end of the year

The information that we have been seeing about the new generation iMac is quite contradictory. Some experts believe that Apple will not launch a new model until sometime in 2024, but other sources have not yet ruled out the possibility of its arrival. at the end of 2023, something that would certainly make sense, since the last model launched by the apple company dates from 2021.

According to Bloomberg, we could see a new 24-inch iMac in 2023. This new computer will not use the Apple M2 SoC, but instead would be based on the Apple M3, a chip that has not yet been announced, but could be presented at the end of the year. This makes the information make even more sense, because the Cupertino giant could combine the presentation of the M3 and the announcement of its new iMac in a single event.

The jump to an M3 SoC would be the biggest change we would see in the next generation iMac. We don’t have many details about this new silicon, but we know it will be made on TSMC’s 3nm node, which should allow a notable improvement in terms of efficiency, and perhaps also at the level of performance. Its CPU and GPU configuration has not been revealed, but as it is the new generation model based on a more advanced node, it is expected that it offers a greater number of cores.

Since the Apple M2 has 8 cores and 8 threads, divided into a block of 4 high-performance cores and another block of 4 high-efficiency cores, I think the Apple M3 is most likely configured with at least 10 cores, and these may be divided into 8 high-performance cores and 2 high-efficiency cores.

On the other hand, the renewal of the 27-inch iMac remains in doubt, so it is possible that we will only see a new 24-inch model. This has not yet been officially confirmed, so we must take it for what it is, a simple rumor.
