Dell enhances its PowerEdge range with higher performance and energy efficient servers

Dell Technologies has announced the expansion of its PowerEdge rangeto which you have added 13 new server models. They are intended for integration into mainstream data centers, large-scale public clouds, and enterprise edge locations.

Among the new Dell PowerEdge servers are available in rack, tower and multi-node formats. They integrate 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, as well as Dell software and various engineering advances. Among them a new design, known as Dell SmartFlow, and which aims to improve energy efficiency and optimize costs. As for Dell APEX, it offers new features to make it easier for companies to adopt the “as a service” approach. In this way they will be able to optimize their IT operations.

The 13 new Dell PowerEdge servers are designed to make it easy to run demanding workloads, such as those involving Artificial Intelligence and analytics, or large-scale database work. Dell PowerEdge servers HS5610 Y HS5620 They offer solutions specifically for cloud service providers managing large-scale multi-vendor data centers.

They are available in 1U and 2U formats, have two sockets and include cold aisle service configurations. In addition, they can be purchased with Dell Open Server Manager, an OpenBMC-based systems management solution to simplify multi-vendor fleet management.

Other servers, like the Dell PowerEdge R760, offer up to 2.9 times more AI inference capacity, with processors with Deep Learning Boost and Intel Advanced Matrix Extensions. In addition, it also offers up to 20% more VDI3 users and more than 50% more SAP Sales & Distribution users on a single server than the previous generation.

PowerEdge systems can be ordered with Nvidia Bluefield-2 data processing units to provide additional offloading, acceleration, and workload isolation capabilities. This is intended to improve energy efficiency in private, hybrid, and multicloud deployments.

As for improvements to Dell’s monitoring software and its new services, they include several in Dell CloudIQ, which combines proactive monitoring, machine learning, and predictive analytics. At the same time, it offers a complete view of the servers. Updates to this tool include advances in server performance forecasting, targeted maintenance operations, and a new virtualization visualization.

Regarding the services Dell ProDeployoffers the service Dell ProDeploy Factory Configuration, which offers ready-to-install PowerEdge servers. In addition, they are pre-configured with the customer’s preferred operating system, as well as hypervisor software and configurations for RAID, BIOS and iDRAC.

The service Dell ProDeploy Rack Integration, on the other hand, offers and installs production-ready rack and network PowerEdge servers. It is intended for companies expanding their data center environments or modernizing their systems. As to Dell DRAC9, the Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) makes it easier to deploy and diagnose Dell systems. It equips them with up-to-date features such as certificate expiration notice, telemetry for Dell consoles, and GPU monitoring.

The performance improvement of these new servers is three times that of 14th generation PowerEdge servers with Intel Xeon Scalable chips from 2017. Their Dell SmartFlow design, which requires less power to cool systems, provides them with Dell Smart Coolingwhich increases airflow and lowers fan power by up to 52% over previous generation servers.
