Microsoft will bring early game demos to Xbox Game Pass

In addition to the great news of bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming embedded in future Samsung TVs, Microsoft also announced this Thursday (9) the Project Moorcroft. The program will offer a selection of demos of upcoming games to Game Pass subscribers.

The demos will be similar to the limited levels and early samples that fans have access to at major gaming industry events like E3 – which, incidentally, won’t be happening this year.

These initial demos ended up losing ground with the transition from large conferences to the virtual format due to the pandemic. But they are very important for independent developers who want to publicize their upcoming creations.

The idea of Project Moorcroft, according to Sarah Bond, leader of the gaming ecosystem at Microsoft, is to turn Game Pass into a kind of showroom. That way, independent studios would have an opportunity to make a portion of their games available to generate excitement among fans and show what’s to come, as well as, of course, getting valuable feedback from players.

“We set up the program and structured it so that the developers actually receive financial compensation for the game that really benefits them financially, and they also get the benefit of great feedback,” explains Bond.

The Moorcroft Project is still under development, but the idea is that it will start to be implemented from next year.
