The Discord chat platform will eventually integrate PlayStation Network accounts natively.
In May 2021, Jim Ryan, the boss of PlayStation, and Discord announced an exclusive partnership which should bring the two platforms closer together on Sony consoles but also mobile devices from the beginning of 2022. The time has therefore come to Discord to reveal what this partnership is all about. It should first fully integrate the PlayStation Network with Discord. In a statement, the gamers’ favorite chat platform says:
” Starting today, we’re phasing in the ability to link your PSN account from Discord and view your PS4 or PS5 gaming activity in your user profile! If you’ve already connected your Discord account to another service that lets you view your activity, it works the same way here. »
Still basic features
Nothing particularly innovative or exclusive therefore, the integration of the PlayStation Network works like that of Twitch, Steam Facebook or Xbox. Your activity will automatically be visible on the Discord platform, whether on the web version, the PC application or the mobile application. You can also choose to show your friends your PSN ID.
It looks like these basic features are just the beginning of the partnership with PlayStation, so Discord advises to keep an eye out for more news in the future. In the meantime, you can take advantage of the ability to view your friends’ activity and message them more easily if you ever want to join their game.
In the United States first, in France later
At this time, PSN integration only affects the United States, and some players in other countries. Discord reveals that it will be done gradually in all other countries where the platform is available.
