ACC Gigafactory, the first factory in the “battery valley” before other gigafactories in Europe

Thanks to French and German public aid to the tune of 1.3 billion, this first Gigafactory allows the French State to prepare for the possible end of thermal cars in Europe from 2035. ACC production should start when next summer and the marketing is scheduled for the end of this year 2023.

Two other sites will see the light of day in the Hauts-de-France region, which will become the “Battery Valley”. The Envision Energy group plans to supply Renault Electricity in 2024 near Douai. For its part, the Grenoble start-up Verkor will produce batteries from mid-2025 in Dunkirk.

The first block will be operational before the end of 2023, with a ramp-up scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. The construction of this unprecedented site, in the heart of Hauts-de-France, represents the first stage of a larger project. Indeed, the German and Italian Gigafactories of ACC will start their production in 2025 and 2026. Thus, in 2030, 2.5 million battery modules will come out of our 3 Gigafactories each year.“, declared in particular Yann Vincent (CEO of ACC) in a press release.

With the establishment of two other Gigafactories in Kaiserslautern (Germany) in 2025 and in Termoli (Italy) in 2026, ACC will reach 120 GWh at full industrial capacity by 2030.
