Free Mobile promises that prices will not increase until 2027

Free responds to increases in mobile plans with competitors, including Bouygues Telecom. Xavier Niel’s operator indicates that it has not increased its prices since the launch of Free Mobile in 2012, and undertakes not to do so until 2027. A well-felt message for those who “enrich” their packages to force a price increase.

free mobile no rate increase

We mentioned last week in our columns a new increase in mobile plans from the operator Bouygues Telecom. Justified by adding 50 GB of datathe price of the B&You plan is subject to an increase of 3 euros, which users are however free to refuse. This is no longer something that surprises us since all operators, and in particular SFR, rely on this strategy. These increases are communicated to customers by email, as always. However, not all operators adopt it. A French troublemaker resists temptation!

This April 26, Free recalls, in a press release, that it has not not increased the price of its historical packages for 10 years. The operator drives the point home and agrees not to do so in the next 5 years, reiterating a promise already on the occasion of 10 years of Free Mobile. A message full of innuendo aimed at competitors. Indeed, the price catalog of Free is now similar to that of 2012: few offers on the meter and few options that increase the bill. The operator specifies that this decision applies to both existing subscribers and new subscribers.

The unlimited Free Mobile plan is still at 19.99 euros… and will remain so!

Over the years, certain packages have been added to enrich the operator’s catalog. Nevertheless, we still find the two historical offers. The first one at 2 euros and the second to €19.99. The first includes 2 hours of calls, with 50 MB in 4G/4G+ and unlimited SMS/MMS. And she is free for Freebox subscribers. The second is a 5G package, with 210 GB in 5G/4G+, unlimited calls, SMS and MMS. Its price drops to 15.99 euros or 9.99 euros for Freebox subscribers (depending on the Box adopted). This is a great complementarity between Box and Mobile.

Maintaining prices does not prevent packages from changing. These have been regularly enriched since 2012, particularly on the data envelope. Free Mobile also has integrated 4G and 5G at no additional cost for subscribers. Unlike Bouygues Telecom, which offers its subscribers to pay an additional 3 euros in order to obtain 5G on their packages.
