Galaxy S22 FE: the affordable smartphone could make a comeback with an Exynos 2300 chip

Samsung could soon revive the Fan Edition series with the arrival of a new Galaxy S22 FE, which will directly succeed the unloved Galaxy S21 FE released at the beginning of 2022.

Galaxy S21 FE

After a Galaxy S21 FE which arrived much too late after multiple postponements, but above all at a price that was far too high, everything suggested that Samsung had finally decided to abandon this series of smartphones. With the huge popularity of the A series and the lack of change on the main S22 series, the various reports announced that Samsung had decided to bury its Galaxy S22 FE.

However, a leaker has now announced the imminent arrival of the smartphone, alongside the Galaxy Buds 2 Live headphones. It would therefore be an unexpected turn of events, but which is ultimately not so surprising due to other more recent reports.

Samsung replaces the Galaxy A74 with the Galaxy S22 FE

The biggest criticism of the Galaxy S21 FE earlier this year was its rather particular positioning, since it was between the Galaxy A73 5G and the classic Galaxy S21. However, the various price drops often encouraged Samsung fans to opt for one or the other, rather than the Galaxy S21 FE.

This year it was reported that Samsung will not launch any Galaxy A74, which would be perfect for positioning a Galaxy S22 FE between the Galaxy A54 and the Galaxy S22. The Galaxy S22 FE would therefore be Samsung’s cheapest high-end smartphone in 2022, and much more efficient than the mid-range Galaxy A54.

Probably the most interesting part of the leak is the processor that will be used by the Galaxy S22 FE. According to the leaker, the smartphone will be powered by an Exynos 2300 chip, which should originally have been used in the Galaxy S23. However, as you probably know by now, the Korean giant had decided to enter into an exclusive partnership with Qualcomm on its smartphones which will arrive on February 1st.

It is therefore expected that the chip manufactured by Samsung will be less efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC of other high-end smartphones, but it could have the advantage of being cheaper to produce, and therefore bringing the price of the smartphone down. It would therefore be perfect for the Galaxy S22 FE, whose price is one of the main selling points. We also learn that the device will use a 108 MP HM6 photo sensorlike the Xiaomi 12T.
