Google Maps starts rolling out Immserive View

It seems a lie, but It’s been about a year since Google first told us about Google Maps Immersive View.during the Google I / O 2022. As they told us at the time, and we can also deduce from its name, this new mode aims to provide a much more immersive map exploration experience than what we can currently obtain with the combination of maps and the Street View mode, which has been so popular and useful for many years.

Remember that the immersive mode of Google Maps combines, in a single environment, picturesque views of a city, its landmarks, suggestions of places to see or visit and views of the interior of some buildings. It can even show alternate views of certain areas, such as at night, in bad weather, or in busy conditions, to better suit different contexts, so we can find one that fits the properties of the moment we think of. visit her

The thing does not stop there, since Immersive View also aimed to have traffic and weather information in real time. In other words, it aims to be the closest experience to accessing a webcam that shows us a real-time image of that location, along with updated information about it. Of course, with Immersive View we will not have an image of that very moment but, on the contrary, it will have multiple views of it.

Last February, at the Live in Paris event, Google announced that it was starting the deployment of Immservive View on Google Maps but, despite this, until now it seems that nobody, or practically nobody, had been able to access this new mode of the service. . However, as we can see on Reddit, some users are already beginning to be able to access Immersive View in Google Maps through their apps, in which they have been able to verify that the service is already offered in cities such as Berlin and London.

At the moment, the number of users who have already obtained access to this new mode is unknown, and what Google has based on to choose them, but it does not seem that they are part of any program of beta testers, so we can understand that a broader deployment is close to taking place. Now, as we can read in that same publication, it seems that you still do not include all the information promised in your presentationsince it does not show real-time data on the state of traffic.

On the other hand, this user also warns of something that we could already imagine and that makes sense, and it is the high volume of data consumption in this new mode. In his tests, which lasted around half an hour, he claims to have spent around two gigabytes. Here, of course, the enormous number of images that this mode must display are combined with the intensive use of it carried out during the tests. However, this is something that we should not forget when we can finally use it.
