Google Pixel: January Android update is here, except for Pixel 6 and 6 Pro

Google has just announced the rollout of the Android 12 update for January 2022. All Pixels, from Pixel 3a to Pixel 5a, will be able to take advantage of the patch. On the other hand, Google has still not managed to correct the various bugs encountered with the update on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Good news for Google Pixel owners. Indeed, Google just announced the rollout of the January 2022 Android update this Wednesday January 5. All owners of compatible devices and Android 12 (from Pixel 3a to Pixel 5a) will be able to receive it as of today and as usual the deployment will be gradual. Users will receive a notification to notify them of the availability of OTA on their smartphone.

But, since there is a but, you will have noticed that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not in the list. Indeed, Google has obviously not corrected the armada of bugs reported on the brand’s latest devices with the December update. This December 31, 2021, the Mountain View firm had also announced the suspension of the deployment of the patch, the time to investigate in particular the disconnection of calls. According to the words of the manufacturer, the update should arrive towards the end of January.

List of fixes in the January Android update

Going back to the Android update of January 2022, it brings many fixes and various improvements, here is the detailed list:

  • Correction of a problem preventing emergency calls under certain conditions when certain third-party applications are installed, such as Microsoft Teams in particular

  • Fixed an issue that resulted in incorrect recording of data usage in the Network menu on some networks
  • Fixed an issue causing the appearance of a black frame when removing assistant overlay on lock screen
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in a memory leak in the system UI under certain conditions
  • Fixed an issue causing the PIP window to render incorrectly for some applications
  • Fixed an issue causing loss of connection to the Wi-Fi network under certain conditions
