New airs arrive in the pixel family (it was time). With just over two weeks to go until the Google I/O 2023 -you know, the famous developer conference in which the firm takes the opportunity to poke its chest and present products and software-, we have a good list of teams that, if nothing fails, should see the light. Among them a folding device.

A Google I/O full of news

It’s been a while since a conference for developers of Google It didn’t generate that much interest. And it is that if everything continues as expected, on stage we will not only see new Pixel phones (the Pixel 7a and the Pixel 8); also a tablet and a foldable smartphone.

According to the PixelTablet, there is little information at the moment -beyond the images shared by Google itself. Many expect it to be direct competition from the Apple iPad at the performance level, although there is a lot of discussion and conflicting information about the price – on the other hand, nothing unusual when it comes to leaks, of course. And it is that while some assure that the cost of this tablet will be in the style of the first Pixels (read, cheap for everything it offers), others assure that a label will be hung that could be around 600 euros, getting rid of any adjective of economic.

As for the phone folding, things get more interesting. It would be the first team of these characteristics from Google, a device that arrives almost forced by circumstances – almost all powerful brands have one – and that could be a success or a real disaster. We will see.

The Pixel Fold: what we know at the moment

The truth is that the images that come to us from the usual leakers leave us with a slightly raised eyebrow. As you can see a few lines below, the supposed Fold has somewhat thick edges and a design that is too reminiscent of the idea raised by Samsung with its Galaxy Fold. (Diazepam) Therefore, a very “old style” aspect that is not very exciting and contributes rather nothing to the current telephone scene. Some point out that it is a prototype, real, but not final after all and that the design What we will see in May will be different.

As for features, it is said that the gadget will come with the processor Google Tensor G2 and will have a 5.8-inch external screen and a 7.6-inch folding OLED indoor displaywith a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

At the photographic level, it has been leaked that it will also have a 48 MP main camera (f/1.7) and optical image stabilization, another 10.8 MP ultra-wide angle and finally, a 10.8 MP telephoto lens with zoom 5x optical magnification and 20x digital zoom.

We can’t expect low cost for such a device either: foldables are known to be remarkably expensive for their new technology and Google won’t be able to adjust the cost too much. We will have to see what this attempt at innovation ultimately ends up with.
