Warner Bros has just announced some very bad news for Harry Potter fans. Its next flagship title Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy will not be released on schedule, late 2022. Instead, it will arrive next year, February 10, 2023. The publisher confirmed the news in a tweet, where it said the game is being pushed back because the team needs ” a little more time to provide the best gaming experience possible “.

The highly anticipated title, set before the events of the Harry Potter books, had been leaked as early as 2018, before appearing in a State of Play presentation earlier this year, but very little official news has been shared since. However, we recently saw a short cinematic featuring the main character helping a hippogriff, as well as two new gameplay images.

Warner Bros delays the release of Hogwarts Legacy to 2023

While a delay might be disappointing for fans who have been looking forward to the game, at least we now have a release date, because Warner Bros had so far only said that the game would arrive at the end of the year. It is hoped that this postponement will allow Warner Bros to fix most of the bugs to avoid a chaotic launch.

The game will be released February 10, 2023 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Steam, Epic Games and later on Nintendo Switch. The exact release date for the Nintendo Switch has yet to be revealed, but it looks like the developers need more time to optimize this version on the less powerful console of the lot.

It can also be noted that three editions will be available, starting with a Standard version of course, but also the now classic Deluxe Edition in digital and physical without forgetting a Collector’s Edition, in physical only. These last two will allow you to benefit from a three-day early access, which would allow you to play from February 7th.
