How much will it cost me to play Starfield in 1080p resolution?

Starfield is an open world RPG type game where we will explore a huge universe of planets. This game would have a universe that would be connected to the Fallout saga, but in a future universe. The interesting thing about this Bethesda game is that it is a new saga, the first in 25 years, which is said to be soon.

What does Starfield ask us to play it?

In general, the requirements of this game are not the most beast we have seen to date. We can see that the minimum and recommended requirements ask forn 6-core, 12-thread processors. It’s not a big deal, we can find pretty good solutions for around 200-300 euros, even a little less if we catch an offer.

He also asks us at least 16GB of RAM, a quantity that has become standard. The price of this component has dropped a lot, so it is not where we should invest money the most.

Regarding storage, it asks for an SSD, so we understand that the requirement is to install it on a drive of this type. It also requires 125GB of space available for installation.

Where we will have the most problems is with the graphics card, which is quite demanding. It requires a minimum of an AMD RX 5700 or an NVIDIA GTX 1070 Ti. But in the recommended ones the level goes up to a AMD RX 6800 XT and NVIDIA RTX 2080.

The full requirements are:

Minimum requirements recommended requirements
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 2600X / Intel Core i7-6800K AMD Ryzen 5 3600X / Intel i5-10600K
RAM 16 GB 16 GB
Graphic card AMD Radeon RX 5700 / NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
DirectX 12 12
storage type ssd ssd
Space 125GB 125GB

Prepare your wallet, it’s not cheap

We have made a budget as tight as possible to be able to play Starfield enough according to the requirements. We have divided it into three parts. First, we will have the base structure of the processor, motherboard, SSD and RAM. Then we have two graphics cards capable of running the game well, and finally the combination of chassis and power supply, in case you don’t already have it.

The base is not especially expensive

You can see in the table of requirements that the processor is not very demanding. Any modern processor has 6 cores and 12 threads in an “easy” way and these have very good prices. We have focused on mid-range processors, plenty to move this game.

We have as a first combination the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor and the Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE V2 motherboard. This is an excellent combination of components as the basis for this system. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor costs 166 euros and the Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE V2 motherboard costs 125 euros. Come on, for less than 300 euros we have a great combination of processor and mobo.

We have made an alternative based on Intel Core i5-12600KF processor and ASUS TUF GAMING B660M-E D4 motherboard. The Core i5-12600KF processor costs 229 euros and the ASUS TUF GAMING B660M-E D4 costs 161 euros. The combination of components costs us 422 euros, much more than the combination of AMD.

Obviously, we are going to need RAM and SSD memory. We have opted for a Samsung 980 1 TB for 65 euros, which is based on the PCIe 3.0 interface. It is not the fastest on the market, but it has a brutal price and offers great performance.

We add to this the RAM memory, which is currently on the ground. We have opted for the G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB for 70 euros. This memory kit works at a frequency of 3600 MHz and has RGB lighting.

The base structure based on AMD components costs 423 euros and the Intel one costs 339. Now, we must continue adding with the rest of the components.

Graphics card: the big problem

Without a doubt, where we are going to leave the most money is on the graphics card. Unfortunately, to play Stafield in 1080p resolution with a high FPS rate or even 1440p resolution, we are going to have to invest a lot of money.

The cheapest option we have found is the XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 6800 XT Core 16 GB for 554 euros. This is a brutal graphics card for gaming in 1440p resolution and also, in some games, in 4K resolution. It offers us support for FSR and FreeSync Premium technologies, without a doubt.

An alternative to the height is the Gigabyte RTX 4070 WindForce OC 12 GB for 670 euros. Said graphics card is extremely powerful, although it has slightly less VRAM. We can play without problems in 1440p resolution, not offering support to play in 4K. The good thing about this graphics card is that it has specific hardware for Ray Tracing and DLSS.

We give two options and each one chooses the one that interests them the most or that fits their budget.

In case you don’t have these components

Something that we can reuse, if we have chosen well in the past, is the chassis and the power supply. If not, well, this chassis and power supply are going to last you a long time.

As a box to contain our computer we have chosen the Corsair 4000D Airflow for 106 euros. We have chosen it for its open front that, by installing one or two fans, can generate a great flow of air. It has a tempered glass side window, which allows you to see inside.

We will need to feed the beast and for this we have chosen the Corsair RM750x 80 Plus Gold for 135 euros. You can opt for the RM750 White, which is somewhat cheaper. We have chosen this fountain because it is perfect for this configuration and because it is totally modular.

It may seem crazy to spend so much on a power supply, but it will last for many years and is designed for future upgrades. Come on, now we will spend money that we will save in the future.
