But luckily someone already devised a way to have a physical mini-keyboard connected to our gamepad, precisely to make those parts of video games in which we have to enter some text less tremendous. It was Microsoft, for their Xbox 360, that had the idea creating an accessory that was attached to the bottom of the controller and connected thanks to the port on the bottom, which it removed any usability barrier with a stroke of the pen.
Well, since that technical advance took place –if we can call it that– until today, many companies have stuck with the idea and they have replicated the same accessory for all the controllers you can imagine: Xbox One, PS4 and of course PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. But if you like, we are going to stay with those designed for the next-gen from sony.
It must be said that, although you probably already know, these mini keyboards for gamepads are not interchangeable. That is to say, those of a PS4 DualShock 4 to a PS5 DualSense will not work for you. Not even those of the Microsoft standard that has been applied since 2013. Each brand has its own peripherals, so the ones we are going to recommend are only for use with the official PlayStation 5 controller.
Useful models and useless models
When looking for a mini keyboard for the PS5 DualSense, remember to opt for models that have the largest number of keys and functions, which easy to pair and even have backlit keys. Especially if you are one of those who spend many hours playing until dawn and with the light practically off. If that is your case, there is a very interesting MoKo model, Bluetooth, with output for headphones and that, yes, you will have to recharge because it cannot share the energy from the console control. It is also not very expensive, since it will cost you about 29 euros.
You have another Auartec model that practically traces the characteristics of the previous one, although it is true that its design is somewhat rougher, does not have backlit keys and you can link it via Bluetooth to the console. Curiously, its price is higher, almost 39 euros, so it is more than certain that if you have to choose an alternative, you are going to opt for the one that we show you above.
Finally, there are other models that are less operational and that we do not recommend because they do not hook directly to the DualSense nor do they have exactly the same shape and they resort to an external cable and a support that are not comfortable at all. But hey, if it fits you and you think you can get the most out of it, for just 24.59 euros it can be yours.
