Intel Announces Major “Core” Brand Renewal for Meteor Lake

Intelthe well-known chip giant, has announced a renewal of its brands for the launch of the generation of processors Meteor Lake. After fifteen years, the company has decided to eliminate the ‘i’ feature and introduce a new brand called Ultra, which would complement the standard one. The update of the brands of the processors will affect the Intel Core, Intel Evo and Intel vPro lines.

Being more specific with the lines aimed at consumption, Intel will divide its processors into two major brands from the commercialization of Meteor Lake. On the one hand we have what could be considered as standard processors aimed at consumption, which will cover the lines Intel Core 3, Intel Core 5 and Intel Core 7 (yes, the ‘i’ disappears, in case it wasn’t clear). From the other brand, Ultra, they will derive Intel Core Ultra 5, Intel Core Ultra 7, and Intel Core Ultra 9.

In the absence of Meteor Lake being marketed to see how the new strategy will be deployed at the moment of truth, it is not unreasonable to think that the Intel Core 5, Intel Core 7 and their Ultra variants aim to distinguish themselves in a similar way to the current ones. K and non-K variants of the processors, of which the latter usually have reduced power and/or features, but even so, and depending on the case, they are products that can become extremely competent.

Intel Core processors to debut with Meteor Lake

Intel has justified changes at the brand level in the intent to better fit with consumer demands and simplify your own catalog. Having the models aimed at consumption divided into two brands, depending on the company’s version, will help to better differentiate those that are aimed purely at consumption from those that are focused on offering high performance, which will be aimed mainly at professional profiles, users running very heavy workloads and very demanding gamers.

Another change that will derive from the application of the new brands will be that the corporation will no longer place messages from Intel Core generations in marketing and on the silicon itself, although the generation to which a model belongs will still be identifiable through the processor number. Another detail to take into account is that it is intended to pair the Intel Arc graphics with the new brands of consumer-oriented processors.

Intel Core Ultra processors to debut with Meteor Lake

In regards to the large lines of processors that are not aimed at consumers, the company has announced an “evolution of the brand of the Intel Evo Edition platform for designs verified by Evo” and the introduction of “Intel vPro device labels Enterprise and Intel vPro Essentials for relevant business systems.”

Intel is convinced that Meteor Lake will be a turning point in its technological trajectory, since it will be the first generation of processors whose consumer-oriented models will be manufactured with the Intel process node 4, the first chiplet design to be enabled with Foveros 3D packaging technology and will be the first generation to include the Intel AI Boost engine, aimed at processing artificial intelligence. The launch of Meteor Lake is apparently aligned with that of Windows 12, and it is that artificial intelligence aims to be one of the star features of the future Microsoft operating system.
