Intel confirms it, they have raised the price of their processors up to 15%

The crisis in the industry is enormous. During COVID, there was an unprecedented demand for systems, since many needed to update their computers to telework. Now sales have plummeted by up to 40% and to “compensate” they are raising the price of components, especially in terms of graphics cards and processors.

Increases the price of Intel processors

Intel’s financial report for the last quarter of last year has been released. The report shows two problems that are, on the one hand, the rise in the price of processors and the drop in sales. Shows the report that the income of the division of client computing fell 36%. Said data shows how the sale of desktop and laptop computers has fallen like a beast.

While elQ4 2022 processors were launched by Intel Core 12th Gen for laptops and the processors Core 13th Gen for desktop. These two launches represented an 11% increase in revenue, a record for the company.

The report shows us that the processors that have become more expensive are the Alder Lake-H and Alder Lake-HX for laptops. These processors have registered a 15% price increase. This figure supposes that laptops have been able to become between 10-15% more expensive, only due to the increase in the price of processors.

On the other hand, the processors price for computers desktop. In this case, the price increase has been so “only” 5%making for a smoother rise that may be less noticeable.

At the moment, we do not have data on the price evolution of AMD Ryzen processors. Everything shows that the Ryzen 7000 have also become more expensive.

Is the constant increase in prices bearable?

For the vast majority of users, the price of a new computer begins to be unaffordable. Graphics cards are becoming more expensive, motherboards, processors and power supplies. It only lowers the price of SSDs and RAM memory, but it does not hardly have an impact, since they are “cheap” products.

Having a computer is beginning to become a luxury, when it is currently a necessity. Studying, working and administrative procedures, among many other things, are done or can be done online. Everything is being digitized, but at the same time, having a computer is becoming less accessible.

Playing is also becoming a luxury. Users are being invited to buy a console or, failing that, a smartphone. Manufacturers no longer want to sell computers or, at least, that is interpreted from the constant increases in the price of components.

We do not know how long this price escalation will continue, but it looks like it will continue for a long time, really.
