IT equipment in Spain is growing above the world average

Contrary to what it may seem given the high number of layoffs within the technology sector, the IT situation in Spain seems to be going through a very different and encouraging scenario. This is what has recently been confirmed with the Equinix 2023 Global Technology Trends Survey.

The IT field seems to continue developing and has good expectations for the future, or at least as far as Spain is concerned. As a result of the study carried out by Equinix, we have learned that Spanish IT teams are going through a very different situation from what is the usual trend in the rest of the world.

The truth is that the survey carried out reports that IT in Spain seems to be in excellent shape, so much so that technological equipment will continue to expand and growth far above the level developed outside our borders.

Seven out of ten Spanish leaders will increase their workforce

This is the encouraging data that has been revealed, and that is that compared to 66% of the global average, in Spain 70% of business leaders in IT sectors intend to continue expanding their workforces for the next twelve months. In this same sense, only 4% of these companies seem to be considering the option of cuts.

Despite the uncertainty of the economic market and the reduction in workers that some organizations in the field of technology have had to make, the data for our country continues to be positive for the future. New technologies are presented for the future as an indispensable element for the good development and functioning of business activities.

The reality that marks the market is that IT equipment continues to grow continuously, a fact that may be due to the fact that more and more companies are taking greater awareness of the need to evolve within the digital world and to find new skills needed within the sector. Business development is linked to technological development, and Spanish organizations seem to be very aware of this.

The most in-demand skills in IT

The search for talent is an irrefutable fact for technology business leaders. Among the most in-demand and incorporated skills appear with 64% computer techniciansalso with 44% cloud computing specialists and with 34% find security analysts.

However, the demand does not end there and there are other expanding roles, such as those dealing with data protection, security software development and security administration.

For Brandi Galvin Morandi, Chief Legal and HR Officer at Equinix, “Technology teams face increasing pressure to deliver on business strategies as the workforce attempts to keep pace with technological transformation.”

Against, and unlike what has been the usual trend in other places in the world, where 37% of companies consider it essential, in Spain Only 23% of organizations seem to prioritize the incorporation of professionals trained in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Although this is a booming sector, Spanish IT companies are facing numerous challenges, such as the speed of transformation of the technology industry in 55% of cases, the retention of workers for 41%. %, remuneration and compensation in 38% and lack of talent for 32% of these.

Morandi has also explained the relevance of access to talent to the point that it is a critical issue for business leaders since this factor is a determining element in ensuring that a company expands within the new market.

The Chief Legal and HR Officer of Equinix adds that “increasingly, the human resources function of organizations must act with agility and a growth mindset to continually offer dynamic solutions. “A new approach to how to access and train talent can be a competitive advantage.”
