Microsoft gives up Xbox One for dead and says it will not release more exclusives for it

Xbox One is dead, at least for Microsoft. The Redmond giant has confirmed that it already will not release more exclusive games from its studios for said consolewhich means that for her it has already completed its life cycle and that the American company has decided to focus on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

It has been Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, who has confirmed it in a recent interview, and this means that they no longer have projects under development for Xbox One, a console that is officially dead for them, although this does not want to say that other developers are going to follow in the footsteps of Microsoft, in fact it is most likely that this veteran keep getting some games between what’s left of 2023 and part of 2024 by third parties.

Why has Microsoft given up Xbox One for dead?

The truth is that several reasons come into play. On the one hand we have the fact that Xbox One was not as successful as PS4, so does not have the same user base and therefore does not have the same weight in market share. On the other hand, we must bear in mind that its hardware has been obsolete for years, and that developing intergenerational games having it as the minimum base at the hardware level is a big dragand it can cause problems. We already saw it in Halo Infinite, to give a well-known example, and we have also been hearing complaints from developers for years.

If you feel angry about that Microsoft decision, calm down, as we have already told you about the console will still have a certain life as long as it continues to receive third-party games, and in fact it recently received the long-awaited Diablo IV, so it still has a catalog that’s up to date and full of interesting games. Also note that this console It has had a very long useful life. and how soon will celebrate eleven years in the market. It’s been Microsoft’s longest-running console, and it’s more than paid for itself.

Sony has not yet said when it plans to abandon PS4, but in this case the situation is more complicated for the Japanese company because this console has a huge user base, and abandoning it would mean leaving those users stranded and giving up a huge amount of potential sales. However, in the end the full transition to PS5 will end up being inevitableand as happened with Xbox One, the PS4 console will also end up dead.

I personally believe that 2023 will most likely be the last great year of PS4and that from 2024 we will already see the end of this console.
