In Nantes, 1,000 social housing units will benefit from an Internet, landline and TNT subscription at a lower price. In partnership with the operator Qoontoo, users will have access, for €2.90/month, to an all-inclusive offer which aims to reduce the digital divide.
While the prices of telephone and Internet subscriptions continue to increase, often using the increase in the mobile data envelope as a pretext, many French people are struggling to fit this charge into their budget. However, today it is difficult to do without Internet access. To prevent the digital divide from worsening in France, the city of Nantes has announced the launch of a solidarity package.
From next year, the metropolis will put in place an offer at only €2.90/month, including a 10 Mbit/s high-speed Internet connection, landline telephony and a TNT bouquet with 27 television channels. The latter also insists on its desire, through this project, to fight against “the decline in purchasing power” within French households.

In fact, not everyone in Nantes will be able to subscribe to it – at least, at the launch of the project. To begin with, 1,000 social housing units were selected by the community in the priority district of Port Boyer. It is possible that other neighborhoods will then be targeted by the metropolis to extend the program.
The subscription, for its part, will be managed by the operator Qoontoo. Users will also be able, if they wish, to complete it with additional options, such as a mobile plan or other television channels. The bill will then be higher, but Nantes promises to keep “affordable prices”.
“This offer, as close as possible to the needs of tenants, provides a concrete solution to improve their purchasing power and fight against the digital divide,” indicates the municipality in a press release. A project which will, we hope, make it possible to offer an Internet connection to the 9,000 households in Nantes who were deprived of it in 2022 due to the high cost of subscriptions.
