First of all, do you know Sorare? If not, know that it is a French Fantasy Football platform. Quesaco? This very well-known practice in the United States consists of a virtual football competition, conducted however with real players. Players are sold in the form of cards, like what FIFA’s FUT mode offers for example. At Sorare, player statistics are based on their performance in the current season, and above all it is only possible to buy cards with Ethereum, one of the most popular and profitable cryptocurrencies of the moment with the Bitcoin.

Thanks to NFT technology, or non-fungible tokens if you prefer, each card sold is unique and cannot be duplicated or transferred to another player, unless of course you sell it. For each player present in the game, Sorare issues 1111 cards in the form of NFTs each season. They are grouped into different categories:

  • 1000 copies of “Common” rarity
  • 100 copies of “Rare” level
  • 10 copies of “Super Rare” level
  • 1 single copy

Kylian Mbappé’s unique card is snapped up at a golden price

As you will have understood, single copies can be snapped up at exorbitant prices. And precisely, the last auctions organized by Sorare did not demonstrate the contrary. The platform recently put a unique Kylian Mbappé card up for sale. The French striker was also in the confidence, since he himself announced the holding of the auction on his Instagram account. Unsurprisingly, buyers battled to get the PSG star’s card.

When the auction closes on May 9, 2022, the card found a buyer for the astronomical sum of 153 ETH, i.e. nearly €416,000. It is the user TeamBambi who is now the exclusive owner of the world champion’s NFT card throughout the 2021/2022 season. Note, however, that the NFT card of our national Kylian did not win the prize for the most expensive sale. This distinction goes to Erling Haaland’s mapthe Borussia Dortmund striker, for a total of 263 ETH, almost €645,000.
