Four months after the original model, the ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro It has been shown as a more powerful variant than the original as it is a portable console that includes an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U as a processor, an 8.4-inch screen, up to 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to 4TB of storage for data in format SSD by PCIe 4 NVMe interface and whose controls are removable in a similar way to the Nintendo Switch.
In short, the ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro is a true beast that aims to take the experience provided by this type of portable consoles with x86 processors further, which have become fashionable as a result of Valve’s Steam Deck. However, it remains to be seen if much of the power offered by the recently announced device does not have to be reduced to obtain sufficient autonomy in portable mode.
Regarding the characteristics of the ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro, the first thing we find is the aforementioned processor AMD Ryzen 7 7840U, which is an APU with integrated graphics and is capable of working at a maximum speed of 5.1GHz. It has eight cores based on Zen 4 architecture supplying a total of sixteen threads (two threads per core). For its part, integrated graphics is a Radeon 780M with twelve computing units and based on the RDNA 3 architecture.
The screen of the portable console, of 8.4 inchessupports 118% of the sRGB color spectrum and a native resolution of 2,560×1,600 pixels, which is superior not only to that of a Steam Deck that is more oriented to save resources, but also to the maximum used by the ASUS ROG ALLY. At the level of touch capabilities supports an optional pen or stylus with 4,096-level sensitivity. If we combine the latter with the possibility of disassembling the controls, we find that the ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro can be used as a tablet with Windows and has even shown a small detachable keyboard.
The maximum 4TB of storage for data and especially the maximum 64GB of RAM They hint that the manufacturer’s intention is to market an all-terrain device rather than a portable console itself, especially if we see the possibilities at the touch level and the detachable keyboard, which we assume will be sold separately. On the other hand, and more on x86, it is most likely that the quality and graphic load of the games will have to be lowered to have autonomy in portable mode.
The ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro implements a 65.5Wh battery, a USB 4.0 Type-C connector, a USB 3.0 Type-A connector, a microSD expansion slot, a USB 3.1 Type-C connector at the bottom, a jack connector 3.5mm jack for headphones and microphone and is accompanied by a 100-watt gallium nitride charger over USB Type-C with fast charge. It is hoped that it will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, but for now the versions of the connections or the manufacturers have not been detailed. The operating system present by default will be Windows 11.
The release date and base price are not yet known. The manufacturer is not really showing the standard variant of the console either, but a limited edition called ONEXPLAYER 2 PRO EVA with references to the anime (since it is in color) of Evangelion.
