Opera VPN returns to iOS

Opera usually emphasizes, since always, for being a fairly innovative browser, to the point that the rest usually set their sights on the news presented by it to add them to their own browsers. This isn’t always the case, of course, but when they’re not the first, they do show fast responsiveness, as we already saw with the announcement of the ChatGPT integration, which came less than a week after the announcement of Microsoft Edge with Copilot. , and which has already been available for several weeks.

A very bold move on the part of Opera occurred back in 2016, when the browser began to offer a VPN connection completely free of charge. Since then, this has been one of the main reasons for many users to opt for this browser compared to the rest of the offer in this sense. It is true that we can find free extensions and add-ons that add VPN connectivity to other browsers, but the integration of the service in Opera and its reliability are undoubtedly a guarantee.

In its early days, the service was offered for both the desktop and Android and iOS versions, but as we remembered a year ago, when Opera VPN Pro was launched, the company decided shortly after its global release to remove this feature from the Android and iOS versionsto the misfortune of its users who, in this way, were left without one of the most valued functions.

Opera VPN returns to iOS

However, this has changed, since some time ago the free VPN returned to Android and, according to what we can read on the official blog of the browser, Opera’s free VPN service also returns to iOS. In this way, as they affirm in said publication, «Opera has become the first web browser to offer a free, integrated VPN on all major platforms: Mac, Windows, Linux, Android and now iOS.Without a doubt, a great milestone.

The rollout of this new feature has already started, but they say it will take a few weeks to complete.. The good news is that its scope is complete and that, as in other platforms, it will not be necessary to have a user account or any other type of registration, so browsing when using it will be anonymous. And, of course, the volume of traffic will also be unlimited. Of course, we can understand this movement as one more way to publicize the Pro service that, most likely, will also be accessible from Opera for iOS.
