Choosing a smartphone today involves having to decide between two great options, Android and iOS. The first is Google’s operating system which, as many of our readers will know, remains the most widely used worldwide. For its part, the second is the mobile operating system that Apple pre-installs on its iPhone, and is the only real alternative left on the market after the end of Windows Phone and the departure of BlackBerry.
Both Android and iOS They have their advantages and disadvantages. There is no doubt about that, but we must bear in mind that choosing one or the other will limit the smartphone models that we can buy to a greater or lesser extent. If we want to use iOS, we will have no choice but to choose an iPhone, and if we prefer Android, we will be able to choose between numerous models from large companies such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Honor, Realme, Vivo, and others.
In my case I started my adventure in the smartphone sector with a Samsung Galaxy SCL, a cheap version of the Samsung Galaxy S that used Android and that, honestly, gave me a lot of joy despite its limitations. It wasn’t complicated either, as it came from a dumb phone and it was a whole new world for me. of said terminal I upgraded to an iPhone 4s, and I was very happy until iOS 8 arrived and completely ruined the performance of said terminal.
Apple disappointed me so much that I decided to upgrade to a Galaxy S6but when I saw how late the new versions of Android were arriving and confirmed that I was only going to receive two new updates, it was clear to me and I gave Apple a chance again. In 2017 I got the iPhone 8 Plus, which is the terminal that I still use today, and I must say that it has clearly been the best smartphone I have ever bought, five years in use and still offering fantastic performance, and receiving new updates at the operating system level.
After all these experiences I have it quite clear, I prefer iOS to Android, and for three very simple reasons. The first is security, I know that this operating system is a fenced garden and that it leaves little freedom to the user, but I personally do not need it, I prefer that layer of protection that it offers in exchange for the limitations that it implements.
The second reason is performance and optimizationand it is that iOS is an operating system that is polished to the millimeter, and that is developed for very specific hardware, which allows even a terminal like my iPhone 8 Plus, which is five years old, to move iOS 15 with total fluidity . My third and last reason is support, and is that iOS enjoys a much higher level of support than Android. As I said, my iPhone 8 Plus is five years old and will continue to be supported until at least 2023, when it will be six years old. If you had bought your direct rival at that time, a Galaxy S8, you would have stopped receiving new versions of Android in 2019.
