The remakes of old games, and not so old, are trendy, and the truth is that some have become authentic money-making machines. Capcom and the remakes of the Resident Evil saga are an excellent example, and in fact I think they are the best because, except for the slight setback that occurred with Resident Evil 3 Remake, He’s done a fantastic job with those remakes.
Making remakes of games that were very successful at the time can be an excellent idea, as long as certain minimum quality and fidelity to the original are met. It may seem easy, but the truth is that in many cases it ends up being a significant challenge, especially when we have to redo a game that, due to its age, used some very specific mechanics that today are not acceptable.
Final Fantasy VII Remake would be a good example in this regard, and Square Enix he knew how to get out of trouble with a hybrid between real-time action and automated actions more typical of turn-based combat. Graphically, it was also faithful to the original, and in general it managed to honor the classic, something that was quite difficult due to the high expectations it had generated.
Most of the remakes that have come out I have liked, but the truth is that there are many classic titles that I think deserve to be redone and adapted to current technology, and unfortunately it seems that I am going to end up wanting it. In order not to make the list too long, I am going to limit myself to choosing five games that I would love to have a remake. The first is quakea game that frankly would be heart-stopping if it were adapted to current technology, and I think the same about original DOOM. There are two, my third candidate would be Shadow Dancer, but in its arcade versiona 2D remake in the style of Street of Rage 4, but with a serious touch faithful to the original, would be a guaranteed purchase for me.
