Partial Lunar Eclipse 2021: This is what the longest Impressive phenomenon in 580 years looked like; PHOTOS

Both fans and lovers of astronomical phenomena could enjoy. During this dawn of the partial lunar eclipse, the longest in more than 500 years, a historical event that could be seen in North America and other parts of the world throughout the night of Thursday and early morning of this Friday, November 19.

During this morning the longest partial lunar eclipse took place in 580 years and could be visible from 00:02 to 06:04, throughout this period millions of people were able to enjoy the eclipse, which was visible from places with very dark skies, rural areas and far from the light pollution of big cities.

For those who were unable to enjoy it, many astronomical observatories made live broadcasts, through Facebook and YouTube, which covered the most important part of the event; the partial phase, which began at 01:19 in the morning and concluded at 04:47.

During this period, a fraction of the Moon crosses the threshold, the darkest and inner zone of the earth’s shadow and when it reaches this position, this portion is stained in crimson colors that at a distance is visualized as orange and red tones.

How long did the partial lunar eclipse last?

According to the National Institute of Optics and Electronics (INAOE), the partial eclipse of this November 19 had a total duration of six hours and four minutes. It began at 12:02 a.m., at which point the Moon entered the penumbra (the partial shadow of the Earth) and began to gradually darken, until reaching its maximum point, where 97 percent of its surface.

According to NASA, at 1:18 a.m. the Moon began its transit over the inner shadow of the Earth, causing it to darken. Contrary to what many think, it did not look completely black, on the contrary, it took on a reddish tone that made it visible in the course of the early morning.

At 2:00 a.m., 50 percent of the Moon was covered, while at 3:02 a.m. it reached its peak as it was eclipsed by the Earth’s shadow, casting an orange color over most of the Moon. Its estimated duration was three hours and 28 minutes, while its total length will be six. The phenomenon ended at 06:04 hours.
