Android Authority isn’t done with the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro yet. After having revealed all the information about the Tensor G3 chip, the photo part of the two smartphones or even their screens which are entitled to major improvements, our colleagues had even revealed the official wallpapers of the devices, as well as a feature that will allow Pixel 8 and 8 Pro to turn into computers.

There were still a few gray areas on the technical sheet of the devices, but Android Authority has now revealed what to expect from the battery of the two smartphones. In the program, accumulators with greater capacity, but also ever faster recharging.

Pixel 8s have bigger batteries that charge faster

With the Pixel 7, Google admitted to lying about fast charging. The smartphones were only compatible with 20W and 23W for the Pro model, far from the 30W announced. Pixel 8 should charge a little faster, since we can expect a maximum power of 24W and 27W on the Pro version. The difference is not huge, but any improvement is always good to take.

At the level of the battery itself, Google has chosen to use accumulators with a little more capacity. The Pixel 8 will be entitled to a 4485 mAh battery, against 4270 mAh for the previous version. We can therefore expect better autonomy, especially since the Tensor G3 chip promises to be more energy efficient. On the Pixel 8 Pro side, the smartphone will be equipped with a 4950 mAh battery, a little more than the previous 4926 mAh. The difference will then be less noticeable on this version.

Leaker Kamila Wojciechowska also notes that we can expect support for the Wi-Fi 7 standard on both models, and that a UWB chip will be reserved for the Pixel 8 Pro. This will allow better support for trackers, and better control of surrounding connected devices.
