The trial of Microsoft in the context of the takeover of Activision has just delivered crisp new information on the plans of Sony, its main competitor. According to Microsoft lawyers, the next portable accessory that Sony announced at the last PlayStation Showcase could be a little more expensive than some had hoped.

The “Project Q”, which will allow you to stream your games from your PS5, expected to retail for less than $300, less than a Nintendo Switch OLED. If the price lower than that of the Nintendo console is not a surprise, it may still not please some players who are impatiently waiting for it.

Project Q will retail for less than $300, Microsoft claims

Pricing under $300 could mean the accessory will come in at $299, but players are obviously hoping for a much softer price. Indeed, it is ultimately only an 8-inch LCD screen with an integrated joystick, volume buttons, speakers and a jack. Moreover, we also know that the battery will be much less enduring than we could have hoped. This indicates that it will probably be small in size to preserve the thinness and lightness of the accessory.

The console should simply be powered by a low performance processor, and bet especially on a modem fast enough to receive a 1080 stream from your PS5. No graphics chip is therefore necessary, which will obviously bring the price of the device down. On social networks, many players are already announcing that they are not ready to pay more than 200 euros for such a device.

While waiting to learn more about Project Q, remember that Microsoft’s trial was also an opportunity to see another important information revealed: the launch date of the next generation of consoles. According to Microsoft, we can expect the PS6 and the future Xbox in 2028.
